Vi Peel Chemical Peel

I'm ready for my next peel, and I'm toying with the Vi Peel (VI peel or ViPeel).  I’m dying to try it, but no one has been able tell me the exact percentage of each ingredient or the pH level, and that concerns me!

Who’s done the Vi Peel or has inside info? Can you post your feedback?

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients and comments from the ViPeel website:

TCA  - Trichloroacetic Acid for penetration, deep scar healing;
stimulates collagen growth;
Retin-A  - acid derived from vitamin A to combat wrinkles;
Salicylic Acid  - this beta hydroxy acid (BHA) is an exfoliant;
Phenol  - has antiseptic and anesthetic properties;  aids in skin penetration;
Vitamin C  - ascorbic acid has antioxidant and mild exfoliation properties

Downtime

This peels appears to take about a week from start to finish, so prepare for downtime.

Cost

The average cost for the Vi Peel is about $300, depending on your location.

This person said it was the strongest peel offered by the spa--and that it's not for everyone.

Really interested to hear what others have to say about this one!

  1. Watched a few youtubes on vipeel. The ONE aspect that is red flagging for me: PHENOL. I am experienced with PHENOL applied by a PLASTIC SURGEON on my upper lip only. I wanted to die. The pain was extreme.for.hours. I eventually passed out. Lip was severely swollen the next day. Brown chunks falling off. Orange seeping out. Ok. Phenol is harsh. But to trust online vi peels? My upper lip was WHITER than WHITE until I had laser to remove. Then, there's that EXTREME sun sensitivity after, too. ~~Barb

    1. Thanks Barb! I've read a lot about phenol, and it concerns me too, especially since I can't find out how much of it is in this peel. Phenol actually penetrates so deeply that it obliterates all of your melanin, which allows your skin to color. The concern for me is that it can keep the skin from being able to protect itself from UV rays, and I'd have to apply makeup to that part of my face forever if the percentage is too high and destroys the melanin. :-(

  2. Celebrity Laser spa is no longer offering the ViPeel. Hmmmm, and posts: "...However, the Jessner/TCA peel infusion available with the Dermasweep is a great alternative to the Vi Peel. This technique allows precise application of the peel with the infusion method during the microdermabrasion procedure." ~~barb

  4. Gabi - there is a seller on eBid that has been selling the kits for years now and everyone is ecstatic over them. I am intrigued to say the least. This tca just seems so snail mailish to me, you know? Let's jump into the 21st century with EMAIL lol. Well, that's my analogy. ;) It sells for $135 buy it now. Has all the bells and whistles of items I have seen in spas? So maybe...I am not a member of eBid, so I couldn't ask the seller: "Where are YOU getting all of these kits?" Tread carefully,please ~~Barb
