The top of this post is a repeat. See the bottom for new picture.
I applied 50% TCA chemical peel solution to my arms EIGHT days ago, and here's a BEFORE picture:
Here's a picture just after applying the solution; you can see the redness and the frosting:
...and here's day 3. The redness has turned brown and leathery.
And here's day 8 of the same arm. I haven´t taken any because nothing really happened for about three days, and well, it was the weekend.
I'm very curious to see what effect the 50% will have on my freckles...I'm hoping at least for something... I should have at least one more post on this arm peel to see before and afters.
Hi Gabi,
ReplyDeleteI was looking for a 50% chemical for my arms but I could not find any. I bought the skin obssesion 25% I will try this week. I have a lot sun damage on my arms and I have tried other peels before but they did not work. Do you do any preparation on your arm before the peel?
Thanks
Gina

ReplyDeleteHi Gabi,
ReplyDeleteI did the 25% tca peel on my arms. It has been 4 days and there is no peel. My skin looks dry and that's it. Did it ever happened to you? Should I apply again?
Regina, Yes, the body takes longer to peel than the face; I think in this arm peel post, it was 5-6 days before I really started peeling. Just keep moisturizing, and it will peel. No, don't reapply...you'll peel.
ReplyDeleteHi Gabi,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you did layers? (duration?)
Also did your freckles clear??
Thanks
I did not do layers with this peel because the percentage was so high and the pH level was low. The freckles lightened but did not disappear! I have been able to get rid of some freckles on my face, but it's taken multiple spot treatments and kojic acid in between. Wish I'd worn sunscreen all those years ago :-/
DeleteHow long did you leave the solution before neutralizing?
Deletethanks again :D
I did not neutralize! Someone had made a comment about not neutralizing - said it penetrate more, although I haven't been able to find any literature on that, but I decided to try it on my arms (instead of my face). I'm not sure if it did penetrate deeper, but I did get a great peel from not neutralizing. Some acids self neutralize, but the instructions with mine did not state that it did, so I was a bit nervous about trying that on my face :-/
DeleteWhats the difference between this and the tca peel they do at the dermotoligst? i called and they want 125 for the treatment. which do you recommend. my sunspots are pretty big and dark on my arms i hate them. i now regret all the tanning bed and beach days.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm not sure which peel(s) you discussed with the derm, but I had several peels done professionally before trying it at home, just because it's a valuable lesson and I got to ask sooooo many questions. Good luck, whatever you decide to do. Yes, I think we all regret soaking up those rays (fake and real)--now if we could only convince our kids ;-)
DeleteHi Gabi! I just used TCA 25% on my arms 3 days ago. I have a lot of sun damage and pigmentation on my arms. It is 4 shades darker than the rest of my body. I am very self conscious about it. Anyways, I haven't seen any changes to my arms even after 3 days. It's not dry nor leathery like how it is supposed to be. I did 2 layers but I did rinse in between. It never frost btw. It did sting just a little. Also, I did not have rubbing alcohol at home so I used my toner which I think had alcohol in it.I think I made some mistakes, Should I reapply?
ReplyDeleteHi Anon, I'm not sure my arms would respond to 25% TCA. I've applied 25% using my fingertips, and they never peeled unless it was higher. I don't neutralize between layers, and I always put on enough to frost; otherwise, I haven't done enough damage to cause that upper layer to peel, but your skin may be different. I've also used acetone instead of alcohol; many fingernail polish removers are made of this (YIKES). It seems too harsh for my face, but I'd definitely use it on my arms or hands. Finally, I wonder what the pH level is in your product. I think I'll repost this, but here's a link to understanding how important it is for peels: http://mychemicalpeel.blogspot.com/2012/06/understanding-ph-levels-in-chemical.html
